Who am I?
Hi, my name is Shannon! I hold a Master’s Degree in Education and spent over 10 years as a special education teacher, where I focused on helping kids build confidence, skills, and independence.
I’ve also spent many years coaching varsity soccer and lacrosse, giving me a strong background in teaching teamwork, strategy, and sportsmanship.
Recently, I’ve combined my love of trading card games with my passion for teaching and coaching. Through my programs, I aim to create a fun and supportive environment where kids and families can learn, play, and grow together. Whether it’s building skills, learning new games, or just enjoying time together, I love helping people discover the excitement and connection that trading card games bring
Why Trading Card Games?
Strategic trading card games like Pokémon TCG and Lorcana are hands-on training grounds for skills that matter in school, friendships, and life:
Math & Reading: Strengthening problem-solving, comprehension, and critical thinking through numbers and language.
Executive Functioning: Planning ahead, organizing resources, and making decisions under pressure.
Social Skills: Clear communication, sportsmanship, conflict resolution, and negotiation.
Perspective Taking: Predicting an opponent's moves, understanding different strategies, and adapting in real time.
In today’s fast-changing, sometimes chaotic world, kids need more than just knowledge — they need thinking skills: Flexibility to adapt when things don’t go as planned. Problem-solving when faced
with complex challenges. Confidence in decision-making, even with limited information. Collaboration with people who think differently. Trading card games build these abilities in a fun, low-stakes environment where mistakes are just part of the learning process.
